More Than Three Quarters of a Million Trees Planted Since 2008 and Growing

trees-logo.pngWe offset our carbon footprint and resource usage by planting trees through Trees for the Future (TREES). TREES is a non-profit agroforestry resource center that that helps communities across six countries in Sub-Saharan Africa to restore tree cover to their lands. TREES has planted over 142 million trees since 1989. As of December 2018, Amber Lotus Publishing has funded the planting of 875,000 trees. In addition to removing CO2 from the atmosphere, these trees help restore degraded land, reverse deforestation, improve soil quality, and augment local standards of living. Read more about our tree planting philosophy on our blog — Half a Million Trees, Art, Commerce, and Service.

Carbon Negative

carbon-negative.pngWe planted 125,000 trees in 2018 which increased our total number of trees planted to 875,000. The trees planted in 2018 are about 52 times greater than the estimated 2,370 trees used to produce our 2018 product line (which includes our 2019 calendars). We have committed to planting an additional 125,000 trees in 2019. One of the advantages of planting trees as a carbon footprint off-set strategy is that they remove CO2 from the atmosphere on an ongoing basis. TREES estimates that the 1,000,000 trees planted and committed to will remove 17,500 tons of CO2 from the atmosphere annually. This is 10 times greater than the estimated 1,675 tons of CO2 generated by our 2018 printing activities. These benefits are summarized in the table below:

Planted (2008–2018) 875,000 Planted (2008–2017) 15,312
