The sooner you realize that your outer purpose cannot give you lasting fulfillment, the better. When you have seen the limitations of your outer purpose, you give up your unrealistic expectation that it should make you happy, and you make it subservient to your inner purpose.

We can learn not to keep situations or events alive in our minds, but to return our attention continuously to the pristine, timeless present moment rather than be caught up in mental movie-making. Our very Presence then becomes our identity, rather than our thoughts and emotions.

Give up waiting as a state of mind. When you catch yourself slipping into waiting, snap out of it. Come into the present moment. Just be, and enjoy being. So next time somebody says, “Sorry to have kept you waiting,” you can reply, “That’s all right; I wasn’t waiting. I was just standing here enjoying myself – in joy in my self.”

Half a Million Trees, Art, Commerce, and Service

UPDATE: As of December 2017, Amber Lotus Publishing has funded the planting of 750,000 trees. The trees planted in 2017 are about 42 times greater than the estimated 2,357 trees used to produce our 2017 product line (which includes our 2018 calendars). We have committed to planting an additional 50,000 trees in 2018.

Today our team is an extended family of nine people, including a martial artist, a jazz singer, bibliophiles, musicians, writers, belly dancers, gardeners, bicycle enthusiasts, plus a whole host of talented, creative, inspiring contributors. We strive to consistently offer products that are authentic and distinctive to bring you a sense of the eternal by nurturing your heart, renewing your soul, and expanding your mind.

During this holiday of giving thanks, we’re honored and excited to share this wonderful news (first published on Elephant Journal in November 2014):

What do art, commerce, service, and 500,000 trees have in common? They are all an integral part of the mission of Amber Lotus Publishing. We are an independent publisher of mind-body-spirit calendars and greeting cards that recently reached a significant milestone of 500,000 trees planted through our partnership with Trees for the Future (TREES). What began as a simple strategy in 2008 to offset the number of trees used to produce our products has morphed into a fundamental component of our ongoing mission. Continue reading
