Greeting card artwork by Nicholas Kirsten-Honshin.
For almost 15 years, it has been our great honor to share the words of wisdom from beloved teacher Thich Nhat Hanh. Our hope has always been that our calendars and greeting cards will serve as helpful tools for people in their everyday practice to live more mindfully. His words inspire so many to find deeper meaning and to cultivate more compassion. As many of you know, Thay experienced a stroke in November 2014, and he has made remarkable progress toward improved health since then. Please join us in wishing him a happy 90th birthday (October 11) and continued wellness.
❤️ Much gratitude for the wisdom he shares with the world and his work toward peace. Continue reading

They drank tea and dined on moon cakes and fruits that symbolize fertility, like pomegranates, grapes, apples, melons, and peaches. I like to serve honeydew melon and lemon-balm tea (since lemon balm is an herb of the moon). Continue reading
Happy Birthday to Emily – Amber Lotus Publishing – Operations / Marketing gal
We ask each of our staff to pick a favorite Amber Lotus item to feature on our blog for their birthday. Here is Emily’s choice.
Why is Zen Cat one of my favorite calendars?
The easy answer is that here is my Zen Cat …
… and here is my desk at Amber Lotus.
I wish I had an elegant and complex motivation to write about, but I love Nicholas
Kirsten-Honshin’s artwork because he captures the essence of cats. And, cats are wonderful! I do, also, appreciate his peaceful meditations on interconnectedness.
But when I look at this calendar, my first reaction is simple joy.
I’m looking forward to the 2014 Zen Cat calendar.
